Lorraine BIGGS

born 1960, Perth, Western Australia
lives and works Falmouth, Tasmania

Lorraine Biggs is a former Western Australian artist now living on the Northeast coast of Tasmania. The headland location of the artist’s home and studio overlooks the sea towards the North. The clouds that stream across Lorraine’s outlook generally move from West to East traveling with the prevailing winds and with every passing moment they change in shape, colour and hue. The afternoon light on this side of the island is often soft and subdued. Clouds are suffused with mauve shadows and golden highlights. In this painting, Lorraine strives to capture the chameleon qualities and ephemeral beauty of these clouds as they traverse the Tasmanian sky.
